for months now i have been completely smitten with my iphone hipstamatic app.
shooting blindly at my cat and marveling at the lo-fi goodness i am rewarded with.
the possibilities of this app are seemingly limitless,but the tireless folks at photojojo have put together the ultimate hipstamatic guide and using every available combination of lens,film and flash have managed to capture them all! thanking-you photojojo for doing for me what i wouldn't have done for myself!

i bought my first Christmas present of the season over the weekend.

anyway,i have always been drawn to charley harper's illustrations,before i knew the name of the person behind the drawings i remember seeing his work in a cookbook that my mom used when i was little...i tried to mimic him,i would rather draw than cook!

okay.it has been tooo long.
my blogging commitment has gone astray.
as have my arting & crafting ways.
with the strange folk festival and
the rock paper scissors 3rd annual bizarre bazaar just around the corner,
it is time for me to renew,resurrect & revive my waning creative commitment.
i got up early this weekend and gathered a pile of fabric scraps,scissors & waxed linen.
since our weather has been very near perfect and i have a comfy chair on my deck,i planted myself outside and set about making a pompom mess aka crafty-poo.
4 hours and 30 pompoms later i think i am on a crafting roll! instead of glazing over in front of facebook as i am want to do,i have taken to going through drawers & bins getting inspired,coming up with a few new ideas...i am off to peruse those piles of wool felt now,see you back here soon!

the laumeier sculpture park art fair 2009 was pure joy.
the weather was close to perfect and the atmosphere was a heady mix of glee and wonder.
my commentary on a few high points:

gena ollendieck / i own a handful of gena's fabulous books,and will be in attendance in her 3 day workshop in september in troy,illinois!

Over 15,000 visitors - mostly families - attend the annual event, which is held on Mother’s Day weekend. The artists are nationally recognized and the crowd returns yearly for the experience.

At Art Fair, visitors can choose from a variety of creative and original works of art from 150 artists from across the country. Available for sale are works in sculpture, clay, painting, mixed media, printmaking/drawing, new media, jewelry, photography, fiber, glass and wood. A highly competitive juried show, the art fair receives over 1,000 applications, of which 150 are selected to participate. Judges award a total of $10,000 in prizes, sponsored in part by the City of Sunset Hills, to those artists achieving excellence."

i have been blessed to gather over time,and it is no small collection
believe you me,the results of a large family!the fellow on the right is my dad,in the
garden and a school mug,the babe on the left is a great, great
aunt(maternal).i hold these images near and dear to my heart

and saturating the colors just a hair,a fun exercise.

this guy really moves me.{and his tour
poster ain't too shabby}.
his new cd will not dissappoint.
he plays in teeny venues,nice and
intimate,but he is not coming
to st.louis for this tour,hmmm, so tom
& i may have to take a road trip to catch up to him here.

oh,and he will be opening for chris isaak,LOVE him,
LOVE his music, and his drawings are cheeky fun!

i just got word that i'm in.
the 2008 strange folk festival.
YAY!
this means work,a steady flow,
creativity aplenty.
last year's festivities were only
for one day.
this year it will be for two days.
so twice the inventory.

tom & i spent the day at the city museum a coupla days ago.
always a mind expanding experience,always something new to catch
your eye and tickle you electric pink.
the city museum {just one of the many grand destinations in st.louis}
is the happy,healthy,constantly growing baby of bob cassilly.
the latest installation is being tweeked for an opening sometime this month,
the roof at city museum promises to not disappoint,with its familiar teetering
school bus,giant insect and tons of st.louis architectural cast offs artfully engaged
high atop the jaw dropping building and playground below!
keep an eye on the progress here.

here is the rub,i took 172 photos on our trip there.soooooo i am going to share
a few with you here and there throughout the rest of this month,scattered about
and posted randomly,i hope that you will check in here to take a peek.
and if you are ever in my center of the universe,i hope that you will treat yourself
to a visit to this magical place!
